Read More LEADING ECONOMIC AND POLICY NEWSFed Survey Finds Increased Optimism About Credit Access Among Consumers, Though Inflation Concerns RemainPYMNTS reports US consumers more optimistic about their access to credit, according to the January 2024 Survey of Consumer Expectations released by the Federal Reserve Bank of New Yorkās Center for Microeconomic Data on Monday. āPerceptions of credit access compared to a year ago improved notably with a decreased share of respondents reporting that it is more difficult to obtain credit now than a year ago, and a larger share reporting that it is now easier to do so,ā the report said. However, āthe survey also found that median inflation expectations were unchanged at the one- and five-year ahead horizons, while that metric declined at the three-year mark.ā IMF Head āVery Confidentā On Soft Landing, Sees Rate Cuts ComingReuters reports the IMF is ānow āvery confidentā the global economy will see a soft landing, its managing director Kristalina Georgieva said on Monday, adding that interest rates would start coming down around mid year.ā She said at the World Governments Summit in Dubai, āWe are very confident that the world economy is now poised for this soft landing we have been dreaming for,ā after some of the sharpest interest rate hikes in decades.
